Her immersive pop/EDM musical CLEOPATRA (with collaborator Jeff Daye) premiered Off-Broadway at Chelsea Musical Hall last year. Album on Spotify!
Additional musical theatre works include #MARS (with composer Willem Oosthuysen) and Puritan/Lesbian/Witch (with composer and co-bookwriter Christiana Cole.)
Laura has written scripts and songs for Emmy award winning and nominated shows on Netflix, Nickelodeon, Sprout, Sesame Workshop/HBO, and
Disney Jr. including Bubble Guppies, Butterbean's Cafe, Esme & Roy, Colorforms, Rusty Rivets, Zoofari, Sprout House, Made by Maddie, and more!
Laura also writes comedy for adults! She’s developing a feature, Sex Heist, with co-writers Becky Abrams and Addison Anderson and has three pilots — Birth Control, about a hot mess midwife and a type-A doula; Failure to Thrive, about a reclusive child star rejoining adult society; and The Modern Yente, about a directionless 30-something who inherits a matchmaking company from her Grandma Esther, who is a ghost, who sings original songs. It’s a musical!
Laura’s also developing some animated kids’ shows she can’t talk about…unless she’s drunk. JK, she takes NDA’s very seriously…unless she’s drunk. OMG, JK!
Laura attended Columbia University and earned her MFA from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. She is a member of the Dramatist Guild and the Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, where she was awarded the Jean Banks Award for Best Musical and the Ellen Schwartz Award for Outstanding Literary Merit in Lyric Writing.
